'Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place'



Do you take advantage of everything that life has to offer? Are you always on autopilot or do you live in the moment? Are you busy but not productive?


If the answer to any of these questions is yes then maybe it is time to make some changes. The start of a new year is a perfect time as it gives us the opportunity to start afresh. Set new goals and make the most of the gift that is called life but it needs to be managed so that life does not become overwhelming. 'Self care', a buzz word that has been floating around a lot is so critical in todays digital age that is so fast paced. We all need to ground ourselves and not allow things to become uncontrollable.


Based on our own experiences and way of life, we would like to share our top tips on how you can live a whole and authentic life in 2018.....




The mind is a fantastic powerful tool that has no limits. If you use your mind effectively, the world is your oyster. However, it is important to keep your mind in check and not allow it to become full of negative thoughts that do not serve you well. It is natural to experience positive thoughts but also negative ones. The important thing is not to allow your negatives to take over. Writing in a journal daily helps remove thoughts from your mind and transfer them onto paper. Almost like emtying the recycling bin on your computer. It feels so great doesn't it? By cleaning up the mind, you make space for beauty and allow creative ideas to flow freely.



With life placing so many demands on us, we can become anxious or overwhelmed just trying to keep up. Sometimes, in the worst case scenario we can feel like we have no control. Taking fifteen minutes out of the day, which 'everybody' can find, and focussing on the breath, we can calm our minds. If there is a particular issue that you are battling with, for example, 'poor self esteem, 'no inner peace', lack of focus', there are a number of guided meditations available that can help you work through these issues and gain back your control and grounding. A gratitude list helps you focus on the positives in your life and can places things into perspective.



For you to become your best self, a healthy body is just as important as a healthy mind. Ever wondered why you feel fabulous and energetic after exercising? This is because exercising releases the happy hormones called endorphins, also known to reduce depression. The muscles and bones become stronger through exercise reducing many illnesses and diseases. However, one of our top beauty tips regarding exercise is that it keeps you looking younger by providing oxident protection and promoting blood flow so ladies, if you are thinking about botox, why not just get to the gym!

Pay attention to what your body needs and do not do what you 'think you need'. If you are stressed, then maybe a yoga class is what you need, if you feel lethargic and low, then maybe a run outdoors. Learn to listen to your intuition as there is no one rule for all.



Fuel your body with healthy and nourishing food

What you put into your body is known to impact not only your physical body but also your mental state. Foods with high sugar content spike your insulin levels giving you energy but also draining you of it. Fuel the body with delicious and nuritious food if you want to look and feel fabulous. We recommend whole foods which contain plenty of vitamins and minerals, high protein, good fats, and complex carbohydrates. Savour every mouthful and taste the flavours. This will also aid digestion and allow your body to tell you when it is full.

A firm favourite of ours is the avacado. Also a secret weapon for great looking skin as it contains antioxidant carotenoids and vitamin c which help keep your skin firm and guard against photo-aging from sun exposure.



Surround yourself with positive people

So, apparently you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. An interesting thought? When you think about the five people that you spend the most time with, do you find that they are happy positive people, do they really listen to what you have to say? If the answer is no then get away as quick as you can. The people that you surround yourself with should support you, be your cheerleaders, be inspiring and motivating. They are not perfect and will have their faults but they will care about your well being and offer support when needed. 

Also it is important to question your own energy and what you are projecting. The law of attraction tells as that we get back what we give so if if you feel as though you are projecting anger, resentment, jealousy or bitterness then maybe it is time to take a step back and work on making changes to become a happier, more content you.



Sleeping for seven to eight hours a night is known to benefit your heart, weight, mind and mood. If you struggle to fall asleep take a relaxing bath adding some drops of lavender oil, meditate or read a book instead of scrolling through your phone. 



Smiling is known to reduce stress by inducing more positive emotions within us. By changing the brain chemistry it lifts your mood. Smiling also has a positive effect on those around you. Have you ever noticed that if you are having a bad day and someone smiles at you, you instantly feel better. A genuine smile can make someone appear naturally beautiful, warm and approachable and the best thing about smiling is that it costs nothing!



Do something creative

When we are constantly 'busy' our energy sources can become depleted. We need to regularly refill our energy and vitality tank so by getting in touch with our creative side we can feel alive and energised. This can be anything from dancing, travelling or walking in nature. If we do not tune into our own energy levels and deplete them we cannot give to others in the way that we would like, or feel our best.
